Alpha entry on multiply

I've been blogging, or attempting to blog, nonsense for some time now. But this, being my firsty entry on multiply's blogging service, is still a special moment. Posting your first entry is like the first time of getting a dog for pet, or giving your new pet its first bath, or feeding your new pet its first meal of leftovers, or the first time you see a very pained look on a dog's face, or digging your first hole for your first dead pet's corpse. What makes them the same is that they were firsts.

Yep, like I said. Nonsense.

Anyhoo, if you're the type of person who fancies nonsensical blog entries, do visit where it all began -> http://blognironald.blogspot.com. If you noticed posts older than this, those posts came from blogspot. I tried using multipy's import blog from blogger feature, but for some reason unbeknownst to my physical being which I label me, some of the older-er posts weren't imported. Which is such a loss for multiply because those were my most intelligent, life-altering, profound posts. Ever.

I rant. I was just suppose to explain why I joined multiply but it's too late for just that. But let me explain still:

1st: The only reason was, I wanted to share my Capones-adventure pictures.
2nd: And since multiply blogs support tagging, I just _might_ continue blogging here.
3rd: Did you notice multiply's tag line? ..

Aww.. I did want to share my photos with people I already know and love. Thank you multiply. I heart multiply.com

Let's go Sikad, let's go!

I've been here in Manila since September of 2005. I've been playing football/soccer since that time. And since then, I realized that I've never been on a team that won a tournament, or even just a single friggin match. After several restless nights of thinking and analysis, I finally came to the most logical reason why the team I played on never won a match yet. It's due to the balat on my pwet.

If you read my last post, in able to ensure that my team gets to win at least a match, I'll have to have this balat dermatologically removed and chopped into teensy-weensy pieces. But due to the programmer's hectic schedule of eating, sleeping, tv-watching, bath-taking, eating again, the supposedly scheduled operation wasn't even scheduled.

And last sunday, a tournament was on. I'm playing for Sikad FC this time. Football tournament + Ronald + balat on pwet = ???.

Surprisingly, we won the first match versus some team whose name I forgot at the score of 3-0. You could say I was mildly surprised. I didn't score any goal, but almost did with a diving header. Click the link for the diving header should bring you to page showing a football player performing the said move (this is for football illiterate readers). Notice the player's face. To be able to correctly perform the diving header move, one's expression should be exacltly the same as the one found on the image. The expression of bewilderment, confusion, surprise and the need to defacate should be on one's face. With the face in place, one must dive to the approaching soccer ball's trajectory and let it bounce off the forehead and into the goal without the face changing expression the entire time. The reason the ball didn't go in with my diving header is due to my expression lacking the emotion of surprise.

After winning the match, doubts filled my mind. Could my perfectly logical reason for losing prior matches (balat on pwet), wrong? I was tempted to make a quick restroom break to check on the status of the balat in question, but due to the volume of people utilizing the room of rest, I decided to check on it later after the tournament.

Our 2nd match against Sta. Rosa FC was a draw 1-1. Nathan scored the first goal but due to our poor defending in the dying minutes, the opponents managed to steal one goal to draw.

We won the 3rd match against the Villamor Team 2-0. This time I had a between-the-legs kick-flip for a goal from an excellent pass from Rod. No pictures for this one. This must be executed in person for one to understand.

We, again, won our 4th match against Naija FC 1-0 courtesy of Roan. Playing Niaja was a tricky one. The Niaja team was mostly composed of colored people which I presume has their roots in Africa. Most of the players of Naija were taller and physically bulkier we are. They were more odorous too.

And with that we finished first place in our bracket. We unfortunately lost to Sta. Rosa in our Semis matchup. Despite that, Sikad FC definitely played a hell of game that day. Top team in bracket A? Wow. Take that you balat.

The Sikad's ladies team played even better finishing as the tournament's 1st runner up in the ladies division. It was the first time I saw Sikad's ladies played and I was totally in awe of how they handled, passed and moved the ball. Wow. The ladies lost the last match against a team of seasoned, ex-varsity, national players. First runner up is definitely not bad for a team of recreational female football players.

Oh, and when I got home and checked on my balat, it wasn't there anymore ! The I realized, "Oh my gosh, it was just libag!" (spoken in the coño-est tone possible).

After a Month or so

It's been a month or so since I've last posted here. I was inspired to put in a new entry when a from-davao-but-now-in-singapore friend shared her new blog. This is aside from the fact that I'm doing nothing today. And I'm bored. And I only write when I'm super bored. I'm actually only psuedo-bored but I feel writing anyway. Since I'm only psuedo-bored, I'm just gonna psuedo-write. A psuedo-blog entry.

This being a psuedo-entry, I'm just let you know what I've been doing for the past month or so.

1. 5 on 5 Futsal Tournament at Club650 with the Korsaaven.
  • Korsaaven was my main football club (fc) back during my UP student days. I was pretty glad to know that the team is still playing and is slowly rebuilding. (Lots of players stopped playing after graduation and were never heard from ever again). We lost the tournament (This being my first futsal tournament here in Manila, which is totally not the reason we lost but I still feel like mentioning).

2. 7 on 7 Tournament with Sikad FC
  • I played with Sikad FC way back when the team was still named ArchLegion. Never knew the reason for the change but still, playing with these guys still is fun. Again, we lost the tournament but I have an uber-cool moment during one match. I did this super-bicycle kick which awed the audiences even if the ball didn't went in. Thanks to my kick's landing, I have a mild sprain on my left wrist and right foreknuckle til now.
3. Bisita Iglesia with Sikad FC
  • Since I was doing nothing during the holy week, I tagged along with Sikad FC's bisita iglesia. I was told that this activity was some kind of tradition with club. It was an experience (for lack of a better word). Ironically, we ended the day playing texas hold'em poker. I guess we just wanted to play the roles of the soldiers who gambled for Jesus' clothes. Hmmm.. could those soldiers have been playing poker? Aside from that, we took extreme care of not wounding ourselves. We all know the consequences of wounding oneself on the days Jesus was dead, it would never heal, forever.
4. Trip to Tagaytay
  • I've never been to Tagaytay. So even if I only had 3 hours of sleep due to last night's poker game after bisita iglesia, I went and even volunteered to drive. After piercing my eyes with toothpicks to keep me awake for the drive, we got there safe and sound. Visited some popular tourist spots, took some pictures like tourists and even ate like tourists. 'Twas suppose to be a day trip, but for some reason we decided to return the next day. We found a cozy hotel/resort to sleep over for the night. The price was quite steep but the place was real nice. So nice that I forgot its name. After buying the obligatory I love *insert place where you are now which is currently->* Tagaytay shirt, we went home back to smogful Manila.
5. Mt Manalmon
  • A fun climb with Sikad FC friends. What I like best about the people in Sikad is that they share the same interests I have from prOn to football to mountain climbing. A really easy climb. You'll reach the peak in 1.5 hours.
  • Related to this climb is my purchase of a pioneer 2 coleman good-for-two tent which costs around 3K (Ouch). Prior to the climb, I had my eyes set on a good for four tent at Isetann for 850. But on the day of purchase, images from my raining first night on Mt Apo reminded me that cheap tents meant no sleep, wet clothes and group hugs the entire night.
6. Campana Farm
  • Another Sikad FC activity, gawd I like this club. Fished for tilapia in the pond, videoked the entire night. Wow.
7. Tennis and Polats
  • My friend Pol has new hobby, tennis. For some reason, I am in possession of a tennis racket. Pol with new hobby + Me with tennis racket = Me and Pol playing tennis. It was suppose to be a one on one tennisfest with Pol but due to our ...uhm... lack of training, we had to avail the services of Manong to help us with our strokes. I'm getting to like tennis and I might be making this are regular tuesday activity at the UP courts.
8. Mizuno 5 on 5 Futsal Tournament with Korsaaven
  • Lost the tournament again. For the 6 months I've been playing football here in Manila, I've never played for a winning team. I may have to check my puwet for a balat to make sure I'm not the reason for this occurence.
  • Bought a wicked new pair of Mizuno shoes. Not budgeted but since: 30% discount on Mizuno Shoes + Ronald with no Futsal shoes = Ronald with Futsal shoes - 2K. (Ouch)
Shit. This is a long one even for a psuedo post.

If I find time, or rather if time finds me, I'll blog in the details to the bulleted list here on this psuedo posts.

I'm quite contented with what is happening right now with the activities lined up for me:
  • Capones, Zambales Trip - yahoo! surfing here i come
  • Globe Football Super Cup - must have that balat dermatologically removed by this time
I just hope I didn't just imagine all these things.

Mumblings

I re-found my diary ... urhm ... journal three days ago, not underneath a tree but in the space below my closet gathering dust. It's really an old notebook the size of a large she-wallet. I dunno what came to me that time, but 'twas suppose to be a dream diary ...urhm ... journal (diary are for girls, from now on and then on, it's a journal). The first entries were dated jan 05 '02 (I had more than one dream the first time I decided to journal them down). Entertaining actually, but being the creature of non-habit that I am, the journal slowly mutated and decided to be simultaneously a grocery list, assignment notebook, soccer attendance sheet, a to-dos list, and almost even toilet paper and sometimes a girly diary.

The unpretentious notebook, tattered and with peeling covers, chronicled almost significant moments from 2002 until 2004. Emotional fights with my S.O., material things I would like to possess at that time, ways I can get those material things at that time, things I would like to do to improve myself, notes to self, bits of reflection, they were there.

Reading them again is almost living at those moments especially those notes to self. Writing notes to self started when UP decided I was too good for them. And I could write long, detailed even, notes to self.

With the ~150 pages it has, I guesstimate that there are ~50 blank pages left. And I'm gonna write into it again. I guess writing on paper with a pen is different from typing from a keyboard to a white screen. And most entries on this tattered journal is not interesting for other people. This means I'd rather write it down than blog it.

I mumble.

On a different topic, I recently found out about polyphasic sleeping. I think I'm gonna read more on this and then try it. Quite interesting if you ask me.

Here's how I will prepare: slowly try and be vegetarian or at least cut down big-time on meat, slowly wean myself off coffee(I don't drink a lot so I don't think it would be a problem), stop smoking (Again, I smoke very occasionaly and only when socially significant. Social significance of smoking is subject of an entire blog so I'll just leave the idea on your fertile minds), regularly wake up early.

That's about it for now. I hope this gets interesting enough for me to blog on this.

I'm also thinking of switching blog service provider (if ever there is such a term as blog service provider). The idea of having categories for one's blog entries thrills me (talk about cheap thrills). Thanks for the idea marlon.

Mr. Mild Mannered Programmer

*Update as of June 2006*
This entry was originally posted on blognironald.blogspot.com. Prior to the url of blognironald.blogspot.com, the original url was the semi-cryptic icedman13.blogspot.com.
*End Update*

According to Blogger.com, I'm a registed user since February of 2004. Let me see, today's the first of March so 2 years times 12 months/year, hmm.. so that's roughly 24 mos. Excluding this entry, I have posted 24 others so, 24 mos. dibaybay 24 blogs, hmm.. carry one then square the result over phi... A blog entry for every month!

I may not be the most frequent poster among bloggers, but guess what? Guess who's google's number one (1) mild mannered programmer on the web. Drum rolls please. drumdrumdrumdrumdrum...

Here is the web's number 1 mild mannered programmer as of March of '06. As of this date, google returned 31,700 results for mild mannered programmers. I may not be the best programmer among the lot, but be assured I'm the mildest and most mannered of them all.

This may seem insignificant to you but months ago, I was like the 23,857th entry for the search term "mild mannered programmer." I can therefore conclude that tips on search engine optimization (SEO) sure worked. So dear friends, keep linking me up.

I see some pros and cons here.

Forgetting my easily rememberable url of http://blognironald.blogspot.com is no more a problem. I can imagine it all now.. *nuninuninuni*

Bored Office Worker: I'm so bored working here in the office that I'm tagged as a Bored Office Worker in this psuedo-script.

Bored Office Worker (Struck by an Idea): Hey! Lemme mosey around and read up on my loser friend's blog I'll probably be thankful I'm bored working in this office as soon as I read up on him. Now what was the URL again? Was it blugnironald? Or was that Blognggwapo? *Tries the various URLs anyway*

Bored Office Worker: Oh shit! Why was I redirected to this pr0n sites!?! But hey, isn't this my highschool classmate? *drools*

After 3 hours and 2 bathroom trips

Satiated-but-still-Bored Office Worker: That should be enough pr0n for me for 2 hours. Gotta focus now and look for that super interesting blog. Let me _google_ for mild mannered programmer...

Satiated-Bored-but-now-Happy Office Worker: Viola! I finally found you. I love you mild mannered programmer but let me get back to my pr0n...

* * * *
Sounds too good, that it's true.

But on the not-so-lighter side of things, being the mildest and most mannered programmer may be too much pressure. I must be spartan in my ways to be able to maintain my mildness and manneredness. I mean, jeez, this popularity could easily get into my head.

Actually, it already have. Let's wait for the repercussions...
